Telecommunication: Amplitude, Frequency, Modulation

Telecommunication Amplitude Frequency Modulation

TELECOMMUNICATIONS:

Communication systems:

Amplitude:

The amplitude of a periodic variable is a measure of its change during a single period.

Frequency:

Frequency is the number of occurrences of a repeated event per unit of time.

The period is the length of one cycle in a repeated event, so the period is the reciprocal of the frequency.

Phase modulation schemes:

In this type of modulation, the phase of the carrier signal varies according to the message signal. When the phase of the signal is changed, it affects the frequency. For this reason, this modulation is also included under frequency modulation. Generally, phase modulation is used to transmit waves. It is an essential part of many digital broadcast coding schemes such as GSM, WiFi and satellite television, radio waves.

Phase modulation (PM) is a modulation pattern for conditioning communication signals for transmission. It encodes a message signal as variations in the instantaneous phase of a carrier wave. Phase modulation is one of the two main forms of angular modulation, along with frequency modulation.
